Install was relatively easy with instructions for routing the SATA cable from plugs on the motherboard.

Be aware it's not just replacing the drive and you'll have to remove some shrouds and components to get at the SATA plug. Also note that the drive will not be compatible with BootCamp drivers as a CD player under Windows 7. There may be other incompatibilities with older software but I haven't found any. The original drive is ide. The installation guide suggests using the sata connections on the motherboard. Unfortunately this is far from easy. At best time consuming! I purchased a sata to ide converter for a dvd drive.

(can be done by a 3 year old!) i believe the instructions forget to tell you to remove the door of the drive so the tray can exit the slot in the machine. (could be wrong, didn't see this!)
